Common Faults and Maintenance of Hemodialysis Machines

The structure of the hemodialysis machine is very complex and there are many accessories. During the entire disease treatment process, the operating environment inside the machine is a highly corrosive environment with strong acid and alkali, and the treatment process lasts for a long time.

During the disinfection process after the treatment, the disinfection procedures include chemical disinfection, cold cleaning, thermal disinfection, etc., which will cause great loss of equipment accessories to varying degrees.

Therefore, the hemodialysis machine is one of the medical equipment that is prone to failure. The common failures and maintenance plans are summarized as follows.

1. Common obstacles and maintenance of hemodialysis machines during treatment

Liquid dispensing system: The liquid dispensing system is used to prepare the dialysate, and the appropriate dialysate is the guarantee to ensure the smooth and orderly progress of the entire dialysis process.

When the liquid dispensing system fails, the preparation of liquid A and B will be inaccurate; the liquid pipes of A and B will leak and cause a small amount of dialysate, which will cause the conductivity alarm. Therefore, when the conductivity alarms, attention should be paid to inspection and maintenance of dosing systems.

Temperature control system: The temperature control system consists of two parts: heating and temperature detection. The normal standard is: the reverse osmosis water is 36-40 °C, the dialysate temperature is about 37 °C, and the temperature is 100 °C during thermal disinfection and maintained for about 10min. As one of the leading hemodialysis equipment manufacturers in China, Alltrusted is very experienced in producing high quality machines to meet our customers' needs.

When a temperature alarm occurs, consider that the problems of the temperature control system may include: damage to the heating rod; damage to the thyristor; damage to the temperature sensor, and these structures need to be repaired.

Blood leakage monitoring system: The hemodialysis machine uses the optical principle to detect heme in the dialysate to find out whether blood leakage occurs during the dialysis process. The detection sensitivity is 0.25-0.35mL heme/1L dialysate.

When the detected result is higher than this range, the optical detector will alarm. The reason for the alarm of the optical detector of the hemodialysis machine is that the dialyzer ruptures and leaks blood; during the dialysis process, too much sediment is too dirty, and a false alarm occurs;

Direct sunlight causes false alarms. When these abnormalities occur, it is necessary to remove the sediment in time, check for direct sunlight, and repair the dialysis membrane.

Degassing system: If gas is present in the dialysate, it may lead to adverse consequences such as reduced waste removal from the blood, formation of air embolism in the blood, and impaired flow and pressure of the dialysate, as well as the conductivity concentration, so removal of the dialysate gas is very necessary.

The degassing pump and the dialysate pressure pump share the same motor. When the motor is running normally, it can be seen that there is a cone-shaped spray in the degassing spray chamber. No flow or unstable flow;

The inhalation of the A stream is not normal and the conductivity is low. When these abnormalities occur, it is necessary to pay attention to cleaning the motor, especially the commutator of the motor, and replace the severely worn carbon brushes in time.

Ultrafiltration monitoring system: The hemodialysis machine uses the pressure or volume to control the transmembrane pressure to achieve the purpose of ultrafiltration of excess metabolic waste in the blood and removal of excess water in the blood.

The completion of the transmembrane pressure is closely related to the elastic membrane. The elastic membrane is used to complete the pressure regulation, ultrafiltration, pressure balance and other processes. However, the service life of the elastic membrane is mostly 3 to 4 years, after which there will be aging and rupture, resulting in more kind of failure.
