The Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites that attack and destroy red blood cells. The parasites are transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. There are 4 types of malaria. They are Plasmodium vivax (Pv) , Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), Plasmodium ovale (Po) and Plasmodium malariae (Pm) .
The disease now occurs in 95 countries worldwide, and it is estimated that there are over 249 million clinical cases and 608,000 malariacaused deaths in 2022, 95 % of them are African children. The infecon with P. falciparum, if not promptly treated may be fatal.
